Tomáš Hříbek
Tomáš Hříbek is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS), Prague. His interests range from topics in philosophy of mind to philosophy of biology, ethics and aesthetics (he teaches the latter subject at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague). In recent years his research agenda expanded to cover select topics in ethics of emerging technologies. This is related to his participation in the Center for Environmental and Technology Ethics - Prague (CETE-P) at the Institute of Philosophy CAS.
He has published three Czech-language monographs—Metafyzika antiindividualismu (Filosofia, 2008) on psychological externalism; Jaké to je, nebo o čem to je? Místo vědomí v materiálním světě (Filosofia, 2017) on phenomenal consciousness; and Obrana asistované smrti (Academia 2021) on euthanasia and assisted suicide. In addition, he is the author of dozens of professional articles and chapters in collective monographs, both in Czech and English. Of the edited volumes, Autonomous Vehicle Ethics (with Ryan Jenkins and David Černý, Oxford 2022) is particularly noteworthy. He received his master's degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Minnesota in 2006.
