Deke Gould
For the past five years, he has taught interdisciplinary courses on ethics and information technology at Augustana College, and for the Jinling Institute of Technology in Nanjing, China. Recently, he has given talks (to both academic and popular audiences) about philosophical ethics, privacy, and information technology, and has given invited guest lectures on ethical issues in data sciences at Augustana College.
He is slated to teach a new applied ethics course on ethics and information technology in the 2019-2020 academic year, and he has several new research projects in the works, including “Is it Immoral to Create an Artificial Intelligence that Resembles Our Own?”, “A Posthumanist Challenge to Axiological Asymmetry”, and “Revisiting Why Privacy is Important Again”, in addition to projects in other areas.
