Tomáš Doležal is a legal scholar in medical law and civil law.  He is Head of the Department of Civil Law and Head of the Research Unit for Medical Law and Bioethics at the Institute of State and Law, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

He also lectures at the Institute of Medical Law and Public Health at the First Faculty of Medicine, and at the Faculty of Law of the Palacky University in Olomouc. He is Head of the Czech Unit of the UNESCO International Network in Bioethics (Haifa) and the contact person for the EACME (The European Association of Centers of Medical Ethics). He collaborates with the Association of General Practitioners especially during public consultations on medical legislation. Dr. Doležal has authored several Czech-language monographs in the field of medical and civil law.
